“Healthcare and medical technology offer significant opportunities to expand trade and business collaboration between India and Russia. After establishing its global leadership in IT, India has also emerged as the ‘Pharmacy of the World’ and is today the world’s 3rd largest producer of pharmaceuticals by volume. With pharmaceutical exports exceeding USD 30 billion annually and the medical devices sector expanding rapidly, there is considerable scope for Indian MSMEs and Russian enterprises to collaborate in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare technologies, joint manufacturing, technology transfer, exports and re-exports to third-country markets,” said Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman, MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai and President, All India Association of Industries at an interactive business meeting with a delegation from St. Petersburg, Russia, hosted by MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai in association with All India Association of Industries (AIAI).

The visiting delegation represented companies from the healthcare, medical devices and MedTech sectors and interacted with Indian MSMEs to explore potential partnerships in sourcing, distribution, manufacturing, technology collaboration and market access.

The interaction provided an opportunity for Russian enterprises to understand India’s growing capabilities in healthcare manufacturing and for Indian MSMEs to explore business opportunities with companies from St. Petersburg. Discussions also highlighted the potential for joint ventures and partnerships that could enable both sides to access wider markets across Russia, India, Central Asia and other international markets.

MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai reiterated its commitment to facilitating meaningful business linkages between international companies and Indian MSMEs and to promoting greater trade, investment and technology cooperation between India and Russia.
