The 46th Annual General Meeting of, M.Visvesvaraya Industrial Research and Development Centre, World Trade Center Mumbai, was held on 25th August, 2016 at Centrum, World Trade Center Mumbai Complex.

Mumbai August 27, 2016: Chairing the 46th Annual General Meeting of M.Visvesvaraya Industrial Research and Development Centre, World Trade Center Mumbai, Mr. Kamal Morarka welcomed all the members of the Council of Management on behalf of the Board of Directors and acknowledged their continuous support towards the success of the organization.

In his address, Mr. Morarka underlined the remarkable progress in the operational and networking sector that MVIRDC WTC Mumbai has achieved in the past few years.

He also emphasized on various milestones which were achieved last year, by M.Visvesvaraya Industrial Research and Development Centre.

Mr. Morarka informed that MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai during the year organized over 80 events involving governments both State and Overseas, Embassies, Consulates, Chambers of Commerce and other trade promotion organizations. The Centre forged ahead building and maintaining regular interaction with local trading and business communities and helping them connect globally.

Last year, M. Visvervaraya Research and Development Centre launched its trade services in Bhubaneshwar and Goa, joining the network of 324 WTCs in 89 countries which facilitated trade services in vast swathes of the world. The inaugural event was attended by respective Chief Minister’s of both the states. Shri Navin Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odhisa and Shri Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of Goa who were the Chief Guest for the opening. This year the pink city, Jaipur got its first World Trade Center promoted by MVIRDC which was launched by Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Minster of Industries, Rajasthan.

Mr. Morarka further said that “this year the eminent dignitaries, namely The Right Honourable Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Mauritius and H.E. Mr. Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, The Right Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, H.E. Mr. Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister, Grand Dutchy of Luxembourg and from the Indian side H.E. Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Government of India and Hon’ble Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister have been some of the important dignitaries who visited MVIRDC WTC Mumbai.

Mr. Morarka further added that the 5th edition of the Global Economic Summit 2015 held during the year on agriculture and food processing was attended by delegates and experts from over 40 countries. The event with the theme ‘Food for All’ witnessed participation from World Farmers Organization (WFO) who visited India for the first time with a view to empower farmers and engage with “agripreneurs” supported by leading international agriculture organizations namely, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), among others. He also mentioned that “WTC Mumbai Expo Centre organized over 62 exhibitions during the year besides the 80 events especially designed for trade promotion,” added Mr. Morarka.

Talking about the WTO Study initiative he spoke about the Centre’s participation in the WTO Public Forum 2015 in Geneva and mentioned about organizing a working session on the theme ‘Global Value Chains and Changing Patterns of Value Added Trade in Developing Economies’ on which a report on the proceedings of the session was brought out.”

Concluding his address, Mr. Morarka thanked the other office bearers, management and staff for their support and services.
